Don’t Allow Your Excuses to Hold You Back From Your Dreams
Today I would like to share with you why it is detrimental to allow your excuses to hold you back from your dreams. I will begin by sharing with you the parable of the Great Banquet spoke by Jesus in Luke 14.
The parable is about a man hosting a banquet & invited many guests. However all his guests made excuses about unable to make it for the feast. As a result, he extended his invite to the undeserving group – i.e. the poor, the crippled, the blind & the lame.
The Parable of The Great Banquet (Luke 14)
15 When one of those at the table with him heard this, he said to Jesus, “Blessed is the one who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God.”
16 Jesus replied: “A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests. 17 At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’
18 “But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, ‘I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.’
19 “Another said, ‘I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I’m on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.’
20 “Still another said, ‘I just got married, so I can’t come.’
21 “The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.’
22 “‘Sir,’ the servant said, ‘what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.’
23 “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full. 24 I tell you, not one of those who were invited will get a taste of my banquet.’”
Are We Busily Creating Excuses For Ourselves?
Think about this – God is always trying to reach out to us but we chose to shut our hearts to His calling.
In life, we are also presented with many wonderful opportunities but we missed them because we were busily trying to create excuses for ourselves…
“My aircon broke down & it is too warm for me to head to the study to access my PC to read your emails. So tell me why must I subscribe to your email newsletter?”
“Your contact form & “link” are gibberish to me. You have to accept this email as my contact preference.”
*Note: The above are quoted from the emails I received from my email subscribers. It is true that people are finding excuses for themselves every single day so that they can continue to stay in their comfort zone & blame the entire world that they are in a state of misery.
“Life’s too short to spend it trying to please everyone. To fulfil your destiny, stay true to your heart.”~ Joel Osteen
